Horror Eyes

I came across this sight by the roadside.

Innocent?  Look again.

How about now?

Creepy Eyes

I was out on my usual evening walk when I noticed this shadow on the ground.

Pareidolia

of a somewhat eerie kind.  Reminds me of a pirate flag.  Or even the "Yorick's skull" scene from Hamlet.  If this is the effect the builders were going for, I guess they succeeded.

Errant Pareidolia

No idea what this used to be part of, but now it sure looks like a face groaning "Ughhh...".  Maybe it was struck by that rock (that Goliath-style rectangular "bruise" high up on its head does look rather suspicious).

Monster Eyes In The Sidewalk

A winking monster, at that.

Not many people would have noticed it, but I did.

Because I'm always on the lookout for monsters, especially ones that are "hiding in plain sight", like this one.

Seen In A Seoul Alley

Just a cute little scene, spotted while strolling around the Bukchon neighborhood.  It made me think of Miyazaki animes.

Funny Face

One thing I've learned after spending so much time looking up at the sky is that

sometimes the sky looks back at you.

A Strange Vision

MORE PAREIDOLIA

The other day I was out walking along the quiet back road near the office when suddenly I perceived a strange - and unsettling - spectral vision.  Without any warning the familiar, mundane scenery before me - the narrow sidewalk in the shadow of the trees, the freeway overpass ahead, and the hospital to which it led - disappeared, replaced by a long column of soldiers, fearsomely armed and armored in medieval fashion.  They were so numerous I could not see where the column began or where it ended.  All a-bristle with polearms, swords and banners, some mounted on horses and others leading pack animals, they marched in ominous silence toward their unknown destination against a red sky.

Devil On The Floor

I came home from work, pulled into the underground parking garage, and left the car for the valets to park as usual.  As I was walking toward the elevator I spotted this sinister image on the garage floor.  I passed it by at first, but then I changed my mind and went back to take a picture of it.  As I took this shot the valets became curious and came around to see what had attracted my attention.  Immediately one of them remarked, "Diablo!"

In fact, I think it bears more than a little resemblance to some of the devils in this unfinished project from waaay back.  It's my take on the Fall of the Rebel Angels.

Another Intriguing Cloud Formation

Interesting weather having finally returned, I've been taking a lot of photographs of clouds lately. And last week, I noticed this strangely well-delineated polygon in the clouds. The first photograph is the original, followed by enhancements.

Weird.

EDIT:  Wow!  I just now noticed (January 25, 2012) that there are what almost look like runes or pictographs on the upper part of the polygon!  I see an I, a possible A (or a 4?), an E lying on its side, an L, an M, and a possible H (or K), a C and another L!  How strange that I only now noticed it, after 15 months!

EDIT 2:  What the hell was I smoking?  I'm checking out this post again on June 12, 2025 -- and I don't see any of that alphabetical business.  Well, maybe a couple of L's there, just possibly, but as for the rest, I have no idea what it is I saw back then.

The Religiosity of Hadrosaurs

A duck-billed dinosaur pilgrim, clad in a ragged robe and patiently trudging uphill with the aid of a cane.
