Assassin Bug

Some time ago, while stopped at a traffic light I took a shot of the rear end of the car in front.  I then promptly forgot about it, but earlier this evening I happened to come across the photo while checking out some old files.  I started playing around with the image idly, turning it this way and that way and looking at various details full-size, trying to find some use for it.  Then I discovered a detail that looked pretty cool upside down.  It made me think of some killer robot from the Terminator's universe, but one that goes about surreptitiously, hugging the ground like a cross between a snake and a scorpion and staying invisible until the moment it strikes.  Instantly I thought "Assassin bug!".

I had no idea what an actual assassin bug looked like, so I looked it up on the internet.  Turns out, it's a pretty impressive-looking creature -- perhaps, with a little imagination, one sees a certain resemblance?

Cast-Off Furniture

Someone had put this cabinet out in the hallway leading toward the trash chute, with a sign on it reading "Free".  I brought it home and figured out in short order just what to do with all those pigeonholes.

August Evening, And Repeat

Another picture taken during the 'magic hour' interval of the evening.

EDIT:  How surprising and amusing is this -- two days after uploading this photo I realized I had posted a nearly identical photo two years previously, in 2011 -- also dated September 13!  Reminds me of the time I experienced an unusually prolonged and fully conscious hypnagogic hallucination, then while writing it down in my dream journal realized that it happened on the one-year anniversary of my first fully conscious lucid dream.

Dwellers In The Depths

I was a young child when someone in the family brought in a book that was lavishly illustrated with images of deep-sea creatures.  I found them fascinating but also frightening and repulsive at the same time.  And while editing these images of iridescent clouds I was reminded of them.  The Lovecraftian title of the post is expressive of the strong impression they left on me.

Crow, Again

Lost & Found

I wear gloves for driving.  And I keep losing the right glove. Which is why, in the top drawer of my dresser, there are several left gloves.  A month or so ago I lost the latest right glove.  Then yesterday I found this 2-year old photo of a right glove somebody lost.  There was a trail leading right up to it.
