Another "Just Looks Odd"
AND it's a crow again. A random shot of a flying crow, but it looks for all the world like its wing is penetrating the cloud behind it. A possible "glitch in the matrix"? Maybe the matrix engineers should re-calibrate that cloud for proper density.

A Rare Sight
And like crows, magpies are known to be highly intelligent and territorial. They will aggressively defend their home turfs.
Which is why it's unusual to see a single tree with two magpie nests, let alone three. Maybe they were built by multiple generations of birds.

Just Looks Odd
I happened to catch this crow just as it was taking off from the sidewalk, and the resulting image has me a little fascinated. Normally you just don't see birds "floating" like this -- you always see them either flying up there, or safely on the ground, or perched on a branch -- not like this one at this awkward knee-level height, seemingly hovering just above its own shadow with wings folded. It really looks as if it were stuck in a 'glitch in the matrix'.

Like Ships Passing In The Night
A crow caught mid-flight, climbing toward the treetops, and far in the background, a cloud rising in the opposite direction, a faint but unmistakable echo of the fairy maidens in the folktale I referenced near the very beginning of this blog.
They never knew of each other's existence, but I know both.

One More Crow Photo
I just know there's a story here. A lone crow in a private, secluded spot away from prying eyes, apparently finally feeling free to say something out loud that she's been keeping all pent-up for the longest, torturous time? And under an empty flagpole, of all places! Come now, of course there's a backstory. It could turn out to be largely humorous, along the lines of "the king has ass's ears" -- but perhaps it's far more dark, like Hans Christian Andersen's pretty-but-ultimately-tragic stories (probably patterned after his own life; despite the immense popularity of his stories, when it came to his private life Andersen was a rather pathetic, unfulfilled case -- the ladies, including even noble ladies, loved his storytelling, but not so much him personally; also, there's that rumor that he was homo- or bisexual and carried an unquenchable torch for a man who did not return his affections -- at least not in "that way"...) that start out fairly innocent but go on to unbelievably heart-rending conclusions, like the "Steadfast Tin Soldier" and "The Red Shoes". And here I go, over and down the Pessimist Hill again.

Pair Of Crows
And heat mirages and inversion layers.
Perhaps a crow haunted by her freefloating shadow...

Crooked Crow
This crow seems to be demonstrating Euclid's parallel postulate. This could be one of those hidden animal abilities that seemingly have no use in nature, like how seals can balance beach balls on their noses.
