I saw this sight and was immediately reminded of those weird cosmic monsters in the past that swallowed (or tried to) the Sun. But upon closer look I recognized this sinister creature for a much more familiar being - an old hag of a witch, with meeting nose and chin, laughing as she prepares to devour the Sun. A quick hot snack on the way to the Sabbat, perhaps?

Optical Illusion
I walked past this bakery and, just for a moment, thought those loaves were eyeballs. A bit startling, to be sure.

Here marches a mandarin 𝖽̶𝗎̶𝖼̶𝗄̶
I was extremely fortunate in that, at the time I made this clip, I just happened to have the perfect soundtrack to go with it.

"Metamorphosis"
SUDDENLY FEELING SMALL AND SCARED
Me, if I were to lose my sight and instead grow enormous feelers, Kafka-like, so I could feel my way around in the darkness.

The Architect Should Get A Bonus
I discovered this wonderful church yesterday not far from my home. My timing was not great, though; when I spotted that cross of light on the wall the afternoon was lapsing into evening, and the cross was nearing the edge of the wall. Besides which, the sky had been alternating between clear and overcast all day, and just as I got ready to photograph the cross a cloud obscured the Sun and the cross vanished. I stood there anxiously waiting for the Sun to return (actually uttered an expletive at one point, which doesn't seem too appropriate when one has one's gaze fixed on a church...), but when it did, the cross had already moved partway out of the wall. I took a couple of shots anyway, but decided not to use them. Instead, I went back today at an earlier hour and managed to score a clear shot. It's glorious -- somehow, the fact that the cross is not a real object but a fleeting, ephemeral phenomenon of light and shadow seems to add an extra dimension of spirituality.
Another occasion when I went back later to photograph a scene: Exit No.5

A Visit To Majang Meat Market
I had never heard of this place before, but I happened to watch a video on YouTube posted by a gourmet. Apparently he travels the world seeking out only the most famous local meat dishes to review (man, that's the life), like steaks courtesy of Gordon Ramsay and Salt Bae, picanha in Brazil and Wagyu in Japan. Then he came to Korea and sampled Hanwoo (the native breed of cattle) steak at this market and raved over its quality and flavor. Naturally, I became curious and paid a visit (not to eat -- just to watch and photograph). It's a huge open-air market full of butcher shops specializing in either beef or pork, various parts and offal, and restaurants serving up the finished products thereof. Some of the sights at the butcher shops were rather startling, as the meats still had faces on them... Here are a couple of the less "gruesome" photos from the visit.

At Ilsan Lake Park
I was taking pictures of this and that, including the carp under the bridge, when this guy poked his head out of the water and stared right at me, as if saying "Whoa dude, you could literally be my twin!"

Angels Dancing
Passionately, with wild abandon. No quiet decorum here, which they would need to exhibit when on the head of a pin.

Just A Cute Sweet Photo
of a little girl encountering a big bunny at Sinchon Station.
I can post them, you know. No engaging in weird solipsistic psycho-soliloquy or looking for cosmic meaning in my Obsessive-Compulsive tendencies. Just a cute shot.

And Another Dramatic Shot
of a turbulent sky from the other day, with roiling clouds and a curiously regular, "die-cut" looking hole in their midst.

An Angel And A Devil II
A rather more literal representation of the beings than in the last post with this title.

Child's Silhouette
I won't go into the specifics as to why -- not my intention to cause offense -- but I think it's rather obvious why I found this image disturbing.

Antelope Head
In a shop display window. Curious how the "antelope's" head seems to continue the color and direction of the board under it, almost as if it were transparent or a color mimic.
