Impressive Sunsets

First, shot from my balcony yesterday:

 

Then, today I went a few blocks down from my apartment and saw this (there had been a heavy cloud cover all day with no rain and I was feeling a bit glum, but come late evening everything changed);  you want a spectacular sunset? wait for an overcast day!

I crossed and re-crossed the street a bunch of times just so I could record the colors deepening as the sky darkened over a few minutes:

An Accidental Juxtaposition

that had me floundering in pop-philosophical and sort-of-mystical musings.

I Was Surprised And Delighted

to come across these beautiful big flowers in the sidewalk while walking along a stream in Jegidong, Seoul.

[There were also flower tiles in some of the sidewalks in my own neighborhood of Goyang, but they were small images inlaid into individual tiles just a few inches across, and for some reason a year or so ago the city chose to pull them all out (why, oh why?)]

Then as I walked on I saw the images were all elongated along the y (vertical) axis, and realized it's (presumably) so that people walking by the stream would first see them foreshortened to their proper proportions as they walked along the narrow sidewalk.  How thoughtful!

My Errant Jacket

This Errant Cardigan someone misplaced was going to be the post today.

It looked to have been there for a goodly while too, judging by the leaves it had collected.

But while I was out walking earlier, I lost my own jacket.  After an hour and a half of walking I was getting pretty hot, so I took the jacket off and slung it over my shoulder bag.  Then, a while later I reached into the bag for my phone camera, and realized it was gone.  I retraced my steps for a considerable distance, but no luck.  It was lost.

Now there could well be some other blogger somewhere uploading an "Errant Jacket" post.

but no longer.  It kept falling off.

 

Above The Line & Below The Line

Having briefly worked in the moviemaking business (and actually done a bit part opposite no less than Gene Hackman!), I got to learn some of the industry's jargon, including "above the line" and "below the line".  The former refers to the major cast, the director, the writer and producer.  The latter is everyone else, including the technical crew, the small-parters, the "extries", etc.  Today I persuaded Selene to play both parts for me.
